Since moving down to South Florida in 2021, St Luke’s American Coptic Orthodox Church has been our church home. They opened up a school in 2023 which both my young kids attended, and the community has been wonderful.

I had been volunteering and helping out here and there since we came, but in 2024, I got a title (IT Lead) and a $6000 budget. Here are some of the things I was able to accomplish:

• Wired and networked the 3 building campus using Unifi switches with fiber interconnects
• Installed ~30 security cameras for the school with 4 months history using Unifi Protect
• Setup digital Access Control on ~20 doors using Unifi Access
• Upgrades the sound system to and speakers using Behringer Digital Mixer and 70V commercial speakers
• Automated streaming start/stop and upgraded streaming camera and audio feed
• Ensured all infrastructure had power backup and failover cellular internet connection
• Setup Nest thermostats, smart lights, and smart outlets to automate starting and ending services
• Organized and stocked the workshop with Dewalt Power tools

I stretched the budget by selling some of the items the church wanted to get rid of and supplementing the budget from the school and special projects funds.
